Party!
Wendy and I so enjoyed our garden party on Saturday. It was celebrating 35 years as a resident of our village, Frettenham, and also the President’s Garden Party of our local Christian businessmen’s fellowship. Around 100 people came. We welcomed them with strawberries, prosecco and soft drinks.
There was a bouncy castle for the children (and adults), a hog roast, live music and dancing. There was fun, laughter, and it went on until well after dark.
We love parties, and will throw such an event every 6 months or so. And if parties on earth are this good, then what will the big one in heaven be like? I’m very happy living here on earth just now, but one day (if the Bible is true, and by the grace of God, of course) I will be enjoying the great heavenly celebration.
It will have some things in common with our party last Saturday. There will be a crowd. There will be conversation and laughter. There will be celebration. There will be catching up with those one has not seen for a while. There will be people you never expected to see there. There will not be some people you did expect to see there.
We love people. Our Heavenly Father loves people. The Bible says, ‘God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life’. John 3:16.
