The Beauty of the Lakes!
Wendy and I have had a wonderful few days away. Staying on the shore of Windermere, we enjoyed the beauty of the lake from our sitting room window. The sunsets were stunning, and one sunrise lit up the mountaintops opposite with pastel shades of pink.
We walked beside rivers and lakes, ascending hills and walking through green valleys. Wendy saw her first lamb on 19th February this year.
We read in Psalm 19:1 that ‘the heavens declare the glory of God’. In the same way that music, literature, poetry, etc. does not come together accidentally, so the world around us speaks of the creator. The patterns of electrons orbiting atomic nuclei, and planets their respective stars, the detailed designs of living creatures, life itself, gravity, and many other features of creation point to the Creator. Not proof, but weighty evidence. And last week, it was the sheer beauty of the sky – sunrise, blue skies and sunsets – the snowy mountaintops, the lakes, rivers and waterfalls, birds, lambs…. All things bright and beautiful, the Lord God made them all.
