Wendy is Free!
At last Wendy is free!
We were hill-walking in Derbyshire, and she fell off a hill. Well, perhaps she stumbled on a stone walking up Biggin Dale, but then it was the Royal Derby Hospital and the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, and her right arm, with fractured ulnar, radius and 2 carpal bones, was in plaster. For nearly five weeks.
But at last Wendy is free! Free? – her arm has been so heavy, which limited what she could do, but now the plaster is off. She has been one-armed for a few weeks. Now it is more comfortable, less painful, and she is slowly regaining movement.
How amazing that broken bones mend, and are eventually every bit as strong as before they broke. An accident of nature? You must be joking. It’s an amazing process, and another pointer to our Creator.
Free? What a picture. We read in the Bible that Jesus set people free, and that is rather like Wendy’s arm having the plaster off. Plaster restricts the movement of the arm, and Satan and his demonic forces restrict people from enjoying life as it was meant to be. But Jesus sets people free. In John 10:10 we read Jesus saying that Satan comes to steal, kill and destroy, but that He (Jesus) comes to give us life abundantly. I put my trust in Christ 53 years ago this coming October, and that is my testimony.
